Our Leadership

The Story Behind SIF

The Stella Idowu Foundation was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances. Meet the dedicated individuals bringing this vision to life.

Mrs. Stella Idowu Olowokudejo
Mrs. Stella Idowu Olowokudejo
In Loving Memory

A Legacy of Love, Education, and Service.

Mrs. Stella Idowu Olowokudejo was a passionate educator, a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a woman whose life was defined by love, service, and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

She dedicated over 20 years of her life to education, serving with the Lagos State Government and various private schools, where she impacted countless students through her passion for learning and personal development. Beyond the classroom, she carried the educational dreams of many young people on her heart, offering career guidance, encouragement, and support, including financial assistance to those who needed help pursuing their goals.

Stella was a loving and caring mother to her three daughters, Ayotomide, Ifeoluwa and Eniola, and a devoted wife to Mr. Omotayo Olowokudejo. Her home was filled with warmth, kindness, and compassion, and she extended the same love she gave her family to everyone around her.

She was a woman of faith who loved God deeply and was known for her prayerful life, generosity, and genuine love for people. Her passion was not only to see children educated but to see them grow, thrive, and become the best versions of themselves.

Stella Idowu Foundation was established in her loving memory to continue the values she embodied, supporting education, nurturing creativity, and creating opportunities for children and young people in under-served communities. Through this foundation, her legacy of love, service, and belief in the potential of every child continues to live on.

Mrs. Stella Idowu Olowokudejo's life was a blessing, and her impact will continue to inspire generations.

When their mother, Mrs. Stella Idowu Olowokudejo, passed on, she left behind more than a legacy, she left a calling. Ayotomide, Ifeoluwa and Eniola, her three daughters, chose to answer that calling by founding the Stella Idowu Foundation in her honour.

They watched their mother give 20+ years to education, sacrifice quietly to support others, and love unconditionally, and they decided that her story would not end with her passing. Instead, they would build something that carried her spirit forward, reaching the children and communities she had always cared about.

Together, they lead SIF with the same warmth, faith, and determination their mother modelled. They are not just administrators of a foundation, they are daughters on a mission, pouring into every child they reach the same love that was poured into them.

"We started SIF because Mum always believed every child deserved a chance. We are just continuing what she started in her heart."

Meet Gbemisola Farinloye: From Two Years Out of School to Academic Excellence

A bright 10-year-old from a low-income family, Gbemisola Farinloye had not been in school for over 2 years before SIF found her. Today, she stands as a shining example of what education, and one act of compassion, can do for a child.

The Story

When SIF volunteers arrived at a community program in December 2024, they noticed a bright-eyed girl sitting quietly at the back of the room. She answered every question correctly, yet she hadn't been to school in over two years. Her name was Gbemisola Farinloye.

Born into a low-income family, Gbemisola Farinloye's education had stalled not because of lack of ability, but lack of means. SIF immediately stepped in, and within weeks, she was enrolled in an excellent school, complete with a full scholarship, school bag, books, and uniform.

Today, Gbemisola Farinloye's genius is flourishing. She continues to excel academically, and her grandmother, who waved us goodbye with the biggest smile, could not be more proud. This is exactly why SIF exists.

"She answered every question correctly, yet she hadn't been to school in over two years."

From Apprentices to Top of the Class:
Meet Ayomide & Ajoke Shobo

Their mother was out of options. Their father was gone. And so, instead of school desks and textbooks, two young children were being trained to learn a trade, not because they weren't brilliant, but because brilliance alone couldn't pay school fees. Then SIF found them.

Their Journey in Pictures

The Story

When their father passed away, the world shifted beneath Ayomide and Ajoke Shobo's feet. Their mother, already carrying the unbearable weight of grief, now faced a question no parent should ever have to answer: which dream do I let go of?

Unable to afford school fees, she made the heartbreaking decision to place her children into apprenticeships. They were learning a trade, not because they lacked talent, not because they lacked desire, but because formal education had become a luxury their family simply couldn't carry.

SIF discovered their story during one of our outreach programs. We saw what their mother saw every day, two children with fire in their eyes, hunger in their hearts, and potential that no circumstance had managed to extinguish. Within weeks, both Ayomide and Ajoke were fully enrolled in school under the SIF Scholarship Plan, complete with uniforms, school bags, books, and every supply they needed to begin.

And Ajoke? She didn't just attend school. She conquered it. At the end of her first full session, Ajoke came first in her class, best overall performance. The girl whose future had almost been traded for a trade, now standing at the top.

The Girl Who Just Needed a Door to Open:
Meet Ayomiposi Ogunrinu

She stood at the SIF outreach banner in a purple dress, quiet, watchful, holding a few booklets she had just received. She didn't know it yet, but her life was about to change completely.

Her Journey in Pictures

The Story

SIF first met Ayomiposi Ogunrinu at one of our community outreach programs. She came with her guardian, a woman who had shown her so much love from her cradle, even as she stood helpless before the reality of school fees she simply could not afford.

Ayomiposi was not in school. But she wasn't idle either, her eyes followed every speaker, tracked every sign, absorbed every word. It was clear to everyone who looked: this was a child who was ready. All she needed was someone to open the door.

SIF opened that door. Within weeks of being identified, Ayomiposi was enrolled under the SIF Full Scholarship Plan, complete with her school uniform, a branded SIF backpack, exercise books, and every material she needed to start strong.

Today, she stands at her school gate, green uniform, SIF bag on her back, books in hand, ready. Not just for school. Ready for everything that school will unlock for her future.

"Her eyes followed every speaker, tracked every sign, absorbed every word. This was a child who was ready, all she needed was someone to open the door."

200+ Children. 200+ Futures.
The Start Strong Initiative 2026

A new school year. A fresh start. And for over 200 children across under-served communities in Lagos, a backpack, a set of books, and the message that they matter.

What Happened

In January 2026, SIF launched the Start Strong Initiative, a Back to School intervention designed to make sure that no child in an under-served community missed the chance to start the new academic year equipped and ready.

Our team visited schools and communities across Lagos, distributing over 200 branded SIF backpacks, exercise books, pens, and writing materials, one complete school kit for every child we reached. In classrooms buzzing with energy, children raised their new bags above their heads, faces lit up with joy and disbelief.

But more than bags, we brought belief. SIF volunteers ran engagement sessions, reminded children that their education matters, and left every school with one message ringing in the air: "Every child deserves education."

They Gave Them Smiles.
They Gave Them a Day to Remember.

Inside one of Lagos's most under-served communities, on a day the whole country celebrates its children, SIF threw a party, not for children in comfortable homes, but for the ones who needed it most.

The Day in Pictures

What Happened

On Saturday, 23rd May 2026, Children's Day, SIF did something radical: they brought a party to the Snake Island in Snake Island, one of the most under-served slum communities in Lagos.

Hundreds of children gathered under a tent draped in purple and grey balloons, their eyes wide, their laughter loud, their joy uncontained. There was music. There were games, including a joyful musical chairs competition that had the whole community on their feet. There were gifts, purple drawstring bags filled with supplies, and moments of celebration that many of these children had never experienced before.

The event was powered by multiple official partners, a testament to the community of support SIF continues to build around its mission.

But beyond the balloons and the music, what SIF brought that day was something quieter, something deeper: the message that these children matter. That their joy matters. That even in a slum, a child deserves to be celebrated.

A Day of Books, Brushes & Big Dreams
in Orile Agege

In December 2025, SIF partnered with The Slum Project for a day in Orile Agege that turned an ordinary afternoon into a turning point for dozens of children.

The Outreach in Pictures

A Partnership Built on Purpose

Working alongside The Slum Project, SIF volunteers distributed books, exercise materials and SIF-branded backpacks to children for whom even a single notebook is a luxury. A free community health & grooming corner was set up so that no child went home unseen, nails trimmed, hair done, posture checked, smiles restored.

At the heart of the day was a creativity challenge: children were invited to dream out loud, sketch, build and design. The boy in the red shorts won the skills creativity challenge, and to honour that spark, SIF will be gifting him a sewing machine to launch his vocational journey.

Standing quietly beside him, holding a book, is our newest SIF Scholarship beneficiary. Beginning September 2026, his school fees, books, uniform and supplies will be fully sponsored by the Foundation. Two boys. Two paths. One day that changed both.

"A sewing machine for one. A full scholarship for another. A single afternoon that rewrote two futures."
